Hi there! I went on a small trip this past weekend. It’s a small bay called Tortugas (Turtle for spanish) located in the province of Ancash, a six hour drive away from the capital of Lima. It was my first time going there, so I didn’t really know what to expect. When we first arrived, the day was a bit dreary which was a total bummer. But towards the end of the afternoon, the sky cleared and the astonishing view before us became visible.
Tortugas is a rather small town --besides a few restaurants, there weren’t any other shops nearby. Not to mention, there was no wifi, which at first seemed insane considering we all had things to get done. However, it all depends on whether you see the glass half empty or half full, right? Instead, not having wifi resulted in a perfect opportunity to disconnect from the real word and be more present.
The food was great, healthy and fresh out of the sea. Anyhow, best part of all was the boat ride to one of the island near the bay. Desolated, uninhabited and above all, majestic. There was a variety of birds --including penguins! (And I love penguins, they are like my spirit animal. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a goodpicture of them).
All in all, a brief getaway was just what I needed. Until next time!
